The salary grade level begins at 01 which is an entry level grade to level 17 which is the highest position only attained by directors.

Salary grade levels are determined by one’s academic qualification and years of service. A civil servant with an O’level certificate will likely start at salary grade level 02- 03. Civil Servants who joined the Delta State Civil Service with NCE or ND usually start at level 6. Grade level 01 is the lowest and attracts a salary range of 19,500 – 27,000 and grade level 17 which is the highest grade level attracts a salary range of 147,500 – 213,500. Delta State Civil Service Allowances

We mentioned earlier that Delta State Civil Servants are entitled to certain allowances. Below is a list of the allowances, what they are for, and how much is allotted to civil servants at different salary grade levels.

Transportation Allowance: This allowance is given to Delta State Civil servants to cover part of their transportation expenses. The transportation allowance amount is usually 25% of their annual basic salary.

Meal Subsidy: This amount is given to civil servants to supplement the amount they spend on meals while at work. It is allotted as follows:-

  • 01 – 06 N6,000.00
  • 07 – 10 N8,400.00
  • 12 – 14 N9,600.00
  • 15 – 17 N10,800.00

Note that this allowance is allotted according to grade level and every year.

Utility Allowance: This is supposed to cover the cost of utilities such as electricity, water, gas, etc. This is also allocated according to grade level. Salary grade level 01 – 16  receive 15% of their annual basic salary and level 17 workers receive 20% of their annual basic salary.

Leave Grant: All civil servants are entitled to leave once a year, this allowance is allocated to civil servants to subsidize expenses during their leave. The leave grant is usually about 10%  of their annual basic salary.
